Ken Warren Teaches Texas Hold'em

by Ken Warren

If you haven't read any books on Texas Holdem or attended any courses and are interested in learning about Texas Holdem, then this is a good book to start with. I really liked how he included the tables of odds to drive home why you should play certain hands and not others. In addition I had never thought of pot odds and why you should play some hands only when the pot odds dictated. Although it is all common sense, if you've never thought about it, it is eye opener. Even his break down on what you hope to accomplish by betting is a good read. So if you're just getting into Texas Holdem and aren't a poker wiz, then you'll find lots of well organized, and thought out material to improve your game and change your thinking.

A couple of my friends got me started playing Texas Holdem. I knew nothing about poker. I started watching Texas Holdem more on TV, and started playing with friends more, but I was still horrible at it. I bought this book, and it totally changed everything in my game. It teaches you so much. Now that I've read it over and over, and have had months of playing, I'm ready to move to the next level. If you are a Texas Holdem beginner, or even a step above, this book can really improve your game. Now all my poker buddies have even read it and their going to buy other Texas Holdem books as well!

If you're looking for a way to dominate Texas Holdem tournaments then this is not your book. However, if you have a strong interest in Texas Holdem and would like to pursue your interest to the next level, this is absolutely the best book around. Just as the title says "Ken Warren Teaches Texas HoldEm" and he does a very good job doing it. Lets make it clear...this book teaches Texas Holdem (it doesn't claim to try to make you a champion player). It reads in a clear, well-thought out manner. This book does nothing but help you learn and understand all the different aspects and allows for the beginner/social player to grasp such ideas as pre/post flop play and how to go about playing certain starting hands at Texas Holdem. If you want to read a book that will dramatically increase your understanding of Texas Holdem from the beginner level this is the one you are looking for!
