The Boylepoker.com Irish Poker Championship Final took place last night in Citywest. The winner, Kieran Walsh from Cork, beat top poker players and earned 150,000 pounds. The second was Damian Kavanagh from Dublin who earned 70,000 pounds. The third winner was Dave Masters who won the prize of 30,000 pounds. The notorious London poker player Barney Boatman, who was considered by many as a top candidate for the final, reached to the fourth place, earning 18,000 pounds.
The tournament started on Friday with 398 players, including the Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan, and the snooker star players Steve Davis, Ken Doherty and Alex Higgins. While Alex Higgins and Tommy Tiernan dropped out of the tournament on its first night, Ken Doherty almost earned a share of the prize, but left the game on Saturday night.
The Irish Poker Championship organized by Boylepoker.com started in September with local games and national finals. More than 3,000 people participated in the early stages of the tournament and helped making it the biggest poker tournament in Ireland. Almost 800,000 pounds were give away since the beginning of the tournament.
