Theft of Bingo FundsDale G., and Sheryl A. Catron accused of having stolen 11.000 dollars from bingo funds.A couple from Richmond has been accused by a grand jury in Franklin County of stealing 11.000 dollars in bingo funds. Dale G. and Sheryl A. Catron were charged with one count of theft each, and were later released on bail for 5.000 dollars. The Catrons were arrested in Franklin County by the Sheriffs Department of the county and accused of having stolen from the bingo and pull-tab games at the American Legion Bernard Hurst Post 77. 39-year-old Dale and 40-year-old Sheryl committed their theft in July 2003 and kept stealing until October 2004. Troy Werner, Deputy Prosecutor for Franklin County, said that although the Catrons theft was quite well organized they were quickly caught, since they noticed the absence of certain amounts of money from an automatic machine in the post. Suspicions arose and legion officers reported to the Indiana Department of Revenue. The people responsible for the investigation were Legion accountant John Seale and Special Agent Investigator James Biddle Jr. The case file became really thick because many parties were involved in the operation and even the indictment process could not be the regular one used in Indiana, said Franklin County Prosecutor Melvin Wilhelm. The jury also had difficulties in understanding the great amount of technical terms included in the file. |
