Senator Defends Illegal Gambling

Despite the fact that the locals want them out an Indiana Senator defends illegal gambling dens.

An Indiana Senator tried to stop police officers from raiding an illegal gambling operation, as they were about to raid the house.

According to the police involved in the raid the Senator showed up at the house where the alleged illegal activities were going on and during the raid tried to talk officers out of doing their jobs.

The police report said that the senator told officer that he knows what these people are doing is illegal, but that they are not hurting anyone.

During the raid a 46 year old man was arrested. The man arrested had the same last name as the Indiana senator, on suspicion if illegal gambling, casino equipment was also confiscated by the police.

The Senator said he was not related to the man with the same last name, but that he does support their rights to gamble, even illegally.

The Senator was quoted as saying "I said if they stay in the community and give back to the community, I will stand up for them. That's exactly what I've been doing."

Two years ago the same Senator also tried to protect another illegal gambling operation, after hearing that the police were waiting outside the house and arresting players as they left the house.

The Senator said he has no financial interests in the game and that he does not even know how to play.

The senator may approve of these illegal games but the people who live around them do not. Locals said that these places bring guns, drugs and violence into an area they are trying to clean up, and that if the Senator things they are fine he should allow them in his neighborhood.
