Russia has a New way to Fight Gambling Addiction

Russian actors are being paid to stand around casinos and tell of the terrors of gambling

The Russian Government has begun paying some of their less known actors to play homeless beggars to discourage people from gambling.

They actors walk the streets dressed as bums and tell their stories of how they were once powerful corporate executives and because of gambling they are now homeless and forced to beg for money for shelter and food.

A member of the Moscow city council said the beggars will be placed around casinos to try to convince people not to go in.

The city council decided to implement this plan after the Moscow supreme courts ruled that casinos can be placed inside city limits.

The plan which the council says is the first of its kind anywhere in the word, will have council members selecting the actors after a special casting call.

The amount the actors will be paid is still unclear, bit the assumption is that they will be paid the average Russian wage for working 5 nights a week.

Some of the actors will be given props such as instruments to help with their pitiful tale.

One of Russia’s more famous actors said he would be willing to partake in this great plan to help make people aware of the dangers of gambling. He said this is a subject close to his heart because several people in his life have become addicted to gambling and he has seen how it has ruined their lives.
