The Paddy Power casino site had to change its promotion poster displaying an image of Jesus gambling. The poster was a takeoff on Leonardo da Vincis the Last Supper painting, with gaming chips on the table and with the Apostles playing card games and roulette.
The sites owner, Paddy Power, decided to remove the poster after being warned that the image might be considered as offensive. Paddy Power claimed that he planned to create a fun and humorous promotions add. He also said that he consulted with the company Catholic employees and none of them found it offensive. A customer test also showed positive reaction to the poster.
The company withdrew the campaign and declared that they do not intend to use the poster in the future. Still, the ASA found the presentation of Jesus and the Apostles in gambling surrounding, an offensive and breach of its taste and decency clause.
