At the Supreme Court in Brisbane Australia, a man who has been sentenced to life in jail because of the murder of a Gold Coast book keeper told the court that he has a severe gambling problem.
The Man 38 years old was the manager of the Seafire restaurant in Burleigh last year in May when he murdered the restaurants 32 year old book keeper by stabbing him to death.
The previous night the restaurant manager had stolen the entire day%u2019s earnings, and lost it playing cards at a casino.
In a drunken rage he returned to the restaurant and found the book keeper, it is assumed that in his blacked out state he grabbed a knife and attacked the book keeper.
The defense told the court his client could offer no reasonable explanation for the murder except that he did not intent to kill the man and that he had a very bad gambling addiction.
The man was sentenced to life in jail, but with the recommendation of parole after serving 15 years in prison.
