Israel is considering Legalized gambling to increase tourism

Recognizing that tourism is a priority to the economy of Israel, with a goal of 11 million tourists per year in the year 2011 casinos in the areas of Eilat, Mizpa Ramon and the Dead Sea are some of the recommendations made by the national task force that investigated ways to improve the amount of tourists that visit Israel every year.

Part of the recommendation was that the minister of finance and tourism should appoint a committee to present the recommendations before June on the israeli government%u2019s involvement on the tourism, the task force%u2019s report says.

The task force is suggesting that putting money towards promoting internal tourism and the development of other cultural and leisure facilities in the country.

They are also recommending that an outline for tourism should be designed, and a plan for encouraging investment law to help channel money into hotel and recreational facilities construction.

On the matter of aviation the group is also recommending that the government should start a policy of encouraging free competition to establish more flights to and from Israel, including changes to the current laws that govern the aviation industry.

Another recommendation is to respond in a positive way to the EU%u2019s invitation to negotiate an aviation agreement and to sign any agreements with in 1 year as part of a policy without restrictions except for those dealing with security and passenger safety.

A further recommendation on this topic is to respond positively to the EU's invitation to negotiate an aviation agreement, and to sign such an agreement within a year, as a part of a policy free of restrictions other than those relating to safety and security.

As far as agreements already in place the task force thinks adding more carriers that can offer more regularly scheduled flights into and out of the country, which will lower the price of flights and make it more affordable to people that might not have normally come to Israel.
