Help for Problem PA Gamblers

To help protect against gambling abuse PA has opened a Gambling Addiction Hotline

Pennsylvania now has its own slot machine casinos and a gambling problem hotline for those who feel they need help.

In the short time that slot gambling Slot machines have been legal in Pennsylvania officials have determined that tens of thousands have already visited the states slot casinos and spent millions of dollars.

If you are someone you know is in Pennsylvania and has a gambling problem and need someone to talk to call 1-877-565-2112. They are open Monday thru Fridays.

In a move to help curb gambling Problems the slot casinos are joining up with the United Way to help fight gambling addiction.

Many people find a day at the casino to be a fun and exciting time, but for others the brightly light casino floor is a dark and dangerous place.

Statistics show that almost 2 people out of every 100 people either has a gambling problem or would develop one if they started gambling.

Besides the State controlled gambling Hotline run by the health department, there is also a state Compulsive Gambling Council, but to help people in the northern parts of the state the casinos and the United Way have joined teams to train counselors in these areas of the State.

According to the Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drugs, Catholic Social Services, they already have trained people who are prepared to deal with any issues that arise from the new casinos. They have people in place who have been trained and are prepared to deal with any issues, explained a spokesmen fir the United Way.

Besides the hotline there is a program where you can volunteer to have yourself banned from all the states casinos.
