Detroit Casinos Report Higher Profits

Detroit three casinos reported rise in their 2005 profits comparing to 2004.

Detroit casinos profits rose in 2005. The total of 1.23 billion dollars gained by Detroit three casinos in 2005 is 3.3 percent higher than their 2004 profits.

MGM Grand Detroit Casino reported a total of almost 460.7 million dollars in 2005. 6.33 percent increase from 2004 433.3 million dollars total revenue. Greektown profit amount to 335.6 million dollars in 2005, a 5 percent increase from the 319.9 million dollars profit. MotorCity Casino L.L.C. reported a fall of almost 1 percent, from 436.1 million dollars in 2004 to 432.2 million dollars in 2005.

The profits are the total kept by each casino after paying taxes payments, but after paying out winners. The three casinos paid together more than 294.8 million dollars in gambling taxes, in addition to 146.2 million dollars to the city of Detroit and 148.6 million dollars to the state of Michigan.
