Intelligent Guide to Texas Holdem Poker

by Sam Braids

A concise and meticulously researched guide to Texas Holdem. Teaches the rules of Texas Holdem, basic strategy, and how to play in a cardroom. More advanced Texas Holdem players will benefit from statistical charts, vignettes from actual poker games, and detailed information on how the social and psychological aspects of Texas Holdem determine strategy.

Readers also get a comprehensive analysis of online Texas Holdem, including how to use your computer to play Texas Holdem on the Internet, and concise profiles and addresses of 15 online cardrooms.

This is a very useful book on Texas Holdem to have around as a reference. The tables and charts are handy, especially if you play online. If you travel, which I do a lot, having contact information for cardrooms all over the country is helpful. I like his approach to Texas Holdem strategy. He provides a consistent framework for understanding any kind of poker game. His comments on Texas Holdem playing computer programs are thought provoking, even though I do not fully agree with them.
