Texas Holdem is the most popular form of poker played today. It is fairly simple to learn but takes thousands of game hours to master the game.

Learn to play Texas Holdem

There are 5 rounds in Texas Holdem

  1. The Pre Flop
  2. The Flop
  3. The Turn
  4. The River
  5. The Showdown

Every round is followed by a betting round except for the showdown.

The first thing that takes place in a Texas Holdem Poker game is the player to the dealers left is the small blind and the player to his left is the big blind. The small blind start off by placing half the table minimum into the pot and the big blind places the entire table minimum into the pot.

The Texas Holdem Dealer will then deal each player 2 cards called the hole cards or pocket cards. These cards are the only unique cards the players have to make their 5 card hands. This is the pre-flop.

Then the dealer will deal the flop. The flop is the first 3 cards used for the communal cards in Texas Holdem. These cards are used by all players at the table to make their hands.

The third round in Texas Holdem is the turn. The dealer deals another communal card on to the table. At this point peoples hands are either coming together or they are folding their hands.

The next round is the river. The river is the last card dealt in Texas Holdem. Each player now has all the cards they are going to get to make their hand, and this is the last betting round.

The showdown is the last round in Texas Holdem. This is where all players still in the game reveal their hands and a winner is declared.
