Gambling VS Non Gambling in Indiana

Indianapolis bar owners are getting ready to once again try to convince the government to legalize video gambling machines in bars. The State Senate is scheduled to hear a bill to legalize the video gambling machines in racetracks and the states bar owners want to get an amendment put into the bill allowing them to have the machines in their bars as well. Gambling machines such as these are illegal in Indianapolis but according to the Indiana Licensed Beverage Association there are as many as 20,000 of these video gambling machines already in use In the state, and they are currently in places where children have easy access to them. According to an ILBA spokesperson if the machines were legalized in racetracks and bars the chances of someone underage getting to them would be fairly low. Senator Defends Illegal Gambling

An Indiana Senator tried to stop police officers from raiding an illegal gambling operation, as they were about to raid the house. According to the police involved in the raid the Senator showed up at the house where the alleged illegal activities were going on and during the raid tried to talk officers out of doing their jobs. The police report said that the senator told officer that he knows what these people are doing is illegal, but that they are not hurting anyone. During the raid a 46 year old man was arrested. The man arrested had the same last name as the Indiana senator, on suspicion if illegal gambling, casino equipment was also confiscated by the police. The Senator said he was not related to the man with the same last name, but that he does support their rights to gamble, even illegally. 76 Year Old puts 42 Year Old Behind Bars

A 42 year old casino worker has been sentenced to 48 years in prison for an attack on an elderly woman that the district attorney is calling the worst he has ever seen. The 76 year old victim appeared in court on Friday seeking justice for the brutal attack she suffered, while working at a casino bus stop in Lakewood. After her attacker was taken away in handcuffs to begin his 48 year jail sentence, she said she was satisfied and relieved that this ordeal was finally over. The Assailant was convicted in November of attempted 1st degree murder and robbery. He said he tried to rob her because he had lost his entire paycheck in the casino and needed to replace the money to pay his rent, and that he beat the woman after she spotted him stealing from her purse.
